About My Photography...
A bit of rambling
It should first be said that while I was very active in pursuing photography at one point in my life, these days I have not done much, if anything at all with photography.
My professional gear is long gone and my ambitions to be a serious photographer are part of my past. My camera equipment today consists of a pocket digital camera I carry around which I mainly use to take snapshots of people and places I may visit. You can see a few of these kind of snapshots on my personal home page. It's not the ideal camera for serious photography but it gets the job done.
If you are thinking this is all a shame, that is, you think I should be out there chasing down that Pulitzer prize winning shot, you can buy me a professional quality rig and I might go out and give it a go. I have such a rig picked out (check my Amazon wish list for details). Hey, we can all dream right? You never know!
Anyhow, with that said, in regards to the photography you will find here, the first thing to note is my approach to photography. I am an old school photographer in that for me, once the shutter has clicked, it's about done for me. To say such a thing in some artistic circles is blasphemy I know.
My take on photography is sometimes in sharp contrast to many photographers in the artistic community who see a photographic image only as a starting point, raw material if you wish, where photography only plays a partial role in a larger work of art. That is fine by me and I do respect that take on photography, it's just not me, never was.
I tried my best as a photographer to make photography about people. Everyone is unique and everyone has a unique story. Aim for that, and you will produce unique works.
So aside from a few tweaks in the darkroom, the photography featured on my site is in its natural form. Full frame, straight out of the darkroom, ready for public consumption. In fact much of the photography featured here on this site has been published, albeit in a small biweekly college newspaper. Much of it is pretty old too I should mention. None the less, it is here archived for your enjoyment.
To try and bring some order into this display, I organized the photos here into those categories that made the most sense to me at the time: Portrait Photography, Spot Photography and Inanimate Objects.
If you like what you see, or have any suggestions or comments, please send them. I am always happy to hear what others have to say, good or bad.
Finally... I sincerely thank you for stopping by.
